Informal social gatherings We hold monthly informal social gatherings, in a
corner of the bar at the Globe Pub, Rainsford Road, Chelmsford CM1 2QJ (close to our
previous venue and opposite the Esso garage).
From the main entrance to the pub, turn right and you should find us! There is no admission
charge and non-members are welcome, but the pub will expect you to buy a
drink or two. Food is also available –
check on serving times when you arrive.
It is a Greene King pub. The pub has its own car park, but you must
register your car at the terminal on the bar on arrival, otherwise a
penalty charge will apply. Meetings start at 1400, but the organiser will be there from 1300 onwards and lunch can be
bought in the pub. Dates are: Thursdays 16 October, 20 November and 18
December. 2026 dates to be announced later. Talks and slide shows We have resumed Saturday afternoon meetings in Chelmsford on a bi-monthly
basis from autumn 2025, joint with the Omnibus Society Eastern & Southern
Branch. The venue is our established one, the Quaker Meeting House, Rainsford
Road, Chelmsford. About 5-7 minutes walk
from Chelmsford bus and rail stations. Limited parking on site but
other car parks nearby. Click for the location. Meetings start at 1430 (doors open 1400): Saturday October 18 Slide show by Robert
Appleton Buses of West Anglia Kings Lynn, Cambridge, and Peterborough
areas. To include Cambus, Viscount, Stagecoach
East, Eastern Counties in Kings Lynn, First Eastern Counties in Kings Lynn,
plus some independents. Start date Sept 1984 when Cambus
was formed out of the western area of Eastern Counties. Saturday December 13 Slide show by Alan Osborne A miscellany of views of
buses in Essex over 60 years from 1965.
Further dates to follow. EBEG members are
also invited to an Omnibus Society meeting in Chelmsford on Saturday
29 November 2025, 1400 for 1430, for a
presentation by Bill Hiron, Omnibus Society President for 2025. At the Central
Baptist Church, Victoria Road South, Chelmsford. Return
